Howard Moscoe is ending his 32 years in municipal politics.

The veteran councillor from Ward 15 (Eglinton Lawrence) will be informing his constituents via newsletter that he won’t be seeking re-election for the first time since the 1970s.In an interview, he said he hung on as long as he did as a registered candidate so that he wouldn’t be a “lame duck” councillor at the last meeting of council last week.

Now, he’s looking forward to the future.

“I’ve got the same interest and enthusiasm for the job that I’ve always had but I’ve had a couple of interesting offers, want to do some travelling,” he said. “I’m 70 years old – running again would put me at 74 at the last election.”

The Public Purse is Empty and Taxpayers left with a fiscal Crisis after 30 Years.

This councillor served his left leaning ideologies and his supporters to the best of his ability as this self proclaimed “ordinary Joe” and non active elementary school teacher of 25 years.

I wish him good health and know he will enjoy his $122,845 one year’s full salary compliments of Toronto taxpayers in addition to his pensions from the city and the teachers union.

Toronto’s incumbent councillors redefined public service to one of publicly funded severance and salary benefits for civic politicians.

  2. Howard Moscoe has rarely been at City Hall except for the monthly votes and executive committee meetings this past 4 year term because of his heart condition.

With his health problems it might have been better if he had retired 4 years ago.

    I wish him better health.
