The latest contender, Kristyn Wong-Tam, joined the fray on Monday, March 1 and is expected to be one of the leading contenders in the race.

Wong-Tam has gone from being a homeless teen – she was kicked out of her family home when she came out of the closet – to a dual career as a real estate broker and owner of the Xexe Gallery.
While she is an impressive candidate, the rest of the slate contains plenty of other strong options for voters.

Ken Chan, a former Peel Region police officer and aide to Toronto Centre MPP and mayoral hopeful George Smitherman, has earned the endorsement of the outgoing councillor. 
Chan currently serves as a police advisor in London, Ontario, the city he currently calls home.

The ballot also includes well-known local transgender activist and celebrity Enza Anderson, former federal Green Party candidate Chris Tindal and seven others.
