1. What key issues define your campaign platform?
People are tired of rhetoric and excuses. Here is part of my platform:
- High Park is a natural marvel and treasure. I am going to implement a comprehensive plan to PRESERVE, PROTECT and RESTORE it. Vehicle traffic in High Park will be drastically cut and eventually eliminated. All aspects of the Park from Fountains to bathrooms to the zoo are going to be improved.
- BWV is going to undergo a massive transformation. I plan on creating a wonderful pedestrian experience that is fully accessible and friendly to children, seniors and everyone else. Cobblestone, benches, trees, and wider sidewalks to start.
- The Junction will get my full support so that the creativity that is emanating from there continues to flourish.
- The High Park High-Rise Apartments dotting the areas north of Bloor will be forced to maintain the public right of ways surrounding their buildings with proper lighting and walkways.
2. Why are you the best candidate for this position?
Firstly, the incumbent deserves our gratitude for his past service. I respect his accomplishments.
However, the fundamental difference is that I am “BIG IDEA” candidate. If we really want to see profound results, then we need to change the recipe. I am not going to city hall to be a “little voice” amongst another 43 other councillors. We need to get back on the map and start rebuilding the mess we are currently in. To achieve this we need the strongest representation possible, a desire to dream the impossible and a commitment to make it happen.
I understand the value of money. We cannot function as a city when we pay a dollar for a service and get something substantially less. From the garbage strike to the pool closures and endless traffic congestion, I am going to restore some ACCOUNTABILITY to the process.
3. What specifically do you plan to do for your ward, if elected?
I would create the most child, senior, people and pet friendly ward in the city.
4. Please provide details on your personal bio.
I live in the ward with my wife and three year old son. I attended Runnymede P.S. and Humberside. I previously pursued a career in law, acted as editor for a publication called “Hospital Law”, and presented seminars on Labour Law. I also volunteered at the Parkdale Legal Aid Clinic, Mimico Correction Center and Lakeshore Area Multi-Services Project (L.A.M.P). Currently, I am employed as a Real Estate and Mortgage Broker and licensed with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.
5. Who do you plan to support for mayor?
I find several of the mayoral candidates exciting but I am still undecided.
