Ward 19 (Trinity-Spadina)
![]() |
With incumbent Councillor Joe Pantalone running for mayor, the Ward 19 (Trinity-Spadina) council seat is open.
Pantalone, the city’s Deputy Mayor, has until Sept. 10 to file to run for his council seat, but in the meantime he’s running to replace Mayor David Miller in the Oct. 25 election.
Issues they’ll no doubt run into on the hustings include the upkeep and enhancement of parks and public spaces; parking regulations and enforcement; pedestrian and cycling infrastructure and policy; and new developments in the highly sought-after area of the city, despite Census Canada indicating the population suffered a slight drop to just under 50,000 in 2006.
Ward 19 is extremely diverse with Little Italy and Little Portugal within its borders, as well as Exhibition Place, Fort York, and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
