1. What key issues define your campaign platform?

1. Protect our neighbourhood quality of life and promote excellence in city planning and design;
2. Fight for tenants’ rights and rent affordability – 63 per cent of St. Paul’s residents are tenants;
3. Control spending at city hall, set real priorities with residents, keep taxes fair and freeze public salaries;
4. Build a subway for Eglinton Avenue, not a streetcar, with the funding already promised;
5. Make our city services work for us again with customer-oriented delivery of service;
6. Keep our pedestrians, cyclists and drivers safe on our streets;
7. Respect the environment in everything we do.
I continue to facilitate residents’ interests in local issues at city hall and the Ontario Municipal Board; I also helped lead the fight against the loss of open space at Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue in March.
My opinion editorial was published in a Toronto daily, May 4, in which I made the case for the Eglintonsubway.

2. Why are you the best candidate for this position?

I have the experience, dedication and the passion for public service to represent the residents of St. Paul’s well.
I am the only candidate with city hall experience that provides me with essential insight and knowledge of how to resolve issues and get things done.
I have played a hands-on role in serving our community through actively assisting homeowners, tenants, neighbourhood groups and businesses with municipal issues, chairing working groups on important local issues and participating in various city and community meetings on behalf of the councillor.
I have a track record of ethical, prudent and intelligent decision-making.
I would be able to provide continuity for residents because I know the history of the ward.
In addition to working with Councillor Michael Walker for eight years, I am the only candidate who has the life-experience of having a growing family of my own.

3. What specifically do you plan to do for your ward, if elected?
I will:
Hold ward-wide town halls twice a year;
Help residents strengthen their neighbourhood associations;
Open Saturday farmers’ market on Merton Street in the empty city parking lot;
Work with residents on local traffic studies;
Re-synchronize traffic lights to alleviate gridlock;
Maintain community centres better with reduced user fees;
Fight for subway, not streetcar, along Eglinton;
Reduce the negative impacts of the St. Clair streetcar;
Focus city staff on cleaning up the ward regularly;
Work to improve rail safety and security in south of ward;
Organize local bulk purchase opportunities for solar panels/small wind turbines;
Improve recycling in apartment buildings.

4. Please provide details on your personal bio.
Chris Sellors is the former executive assistant to Councillor Michael Walker, St. Paul’s – Ward 22. Chris has played a hands-on role in serving our local community for more than eight years. He is endorsed by former prime minister John Turner and Councillor Michael Walker, as well as by many other residents.
Chris is also a member of the Rotary Club of Toronto. Before, Chris was a sales manager for a telecom company and a professional songwriter.
Chris has been married to Elizabeth since 2003. They have a young son, Jack, and are expecting their second child in January.

5. Who do you plan to support for mayor?
I have not made up my mind; it’s not a clear choice. The important thing is that I can work with anyone and I have a history that proves it.
