1. What key issues define your campaign platform?

Restoring the public trust
As an independent community candidate, I want to change the culture of council debates, which are too often steeped in divisive political point scoring. I will re-connect residents to local government and ensure the councillor’s office is open and responsive to everyone.
Meaningful community engagement
Civic participation and meaningful involvement of residents in decision-making is a cornerstone of my campaign.
Through local planning councils, budget transparency and town hall meetings, I will give political voice to the community, linking local stakeholders together to discuss the issues that matter to them.
Inclusive, smart and sustainable development
I am committed to building a ward that is age-friendly and family-friendly.
We need to ensure smart economic growth and development while preserving  the character that makes our community a great place to live and work.
Working with all stakeholders, I will ensure all new construction is sustainable, livable and respectful of the existing streetscape.

2. Why are you the best candidate for this position?
My diverse experience as a businesswoman, community and arts advocate and active resident is my strength.
I grew up in the downtown core.
I moved to Regent Park as a child and new immigrant. Today, I am a successful businesswoman and community leader and I want to give back to our local community.
I know business success goes hand-in-hand with community responsibility. From boardrooms to neighbourhoods, I can ensure businesses and communities have the support they need to be successful.
I will always prioritize the needs of my constituents above narrow partisan interests. I am a social progressive who believes in fiscal responsibility and community empowerment. As an independent candidate I will give political voice to all our residents. As a caring local advocate, I will represent Ward 27 with integrity and respect.

3. What specifically do you plan to do for your ward, if elected?
From a long list of policy priorities, I will highlight:
Support for local-area planning councils.
Town hall meetings to represent residents’ priorities and share city initiatives that could benefit local people.
Greater transparency and citizen involvement in the city’s budget.
Community-led planning as standard practice for all new developments and re-developments.
Promotion of an age- and family-friendly downtown, including the creation of family-sized units in condo developments.
Ensure new construction is sustainable, livable and respectful of the existing streetscape.
Expand public transit in Toronto including the projects of Transit City.
All subway stops should be accessible.
Ensure public transit is frequent, clean, punctual, affordable and accessible.

4. Please provide details on your personal bio.
I am a successful business leader, community advocate and long-time champion at city hall for art, social equality and sustainable city-building.
Having grown up in Regent Park, I understand and care deeply about our diverse neighbourhoods.
With more than two decades of living, investing and community building in the ward, I have the track record of providing the leadership that creates better communities – and getting things done.
I am the former owner of Timothy’s Coffee on Church Street, advisor to the Toronto police chief and Mayor David Miller, and president of the Chinese Canadian National Council – Toronto chapter.
5. Who do you plan to support for mayor?
I am ready and willing to work with our new mayor – whoever that may be.
