Ward 30 (Toronto-Danforth) is a vibrant downtown east ward that encompasses several dynamic neighbourhoods including south Riverdale, Leslieville, The Pocket, Little India, and Riverside.

A thriving area with a diverse population, Toronto-Danforth constituents are currently in the midst of a difficult community battle to ensure a yet-to-be-built light rail vehicle maintenance and storage facility proposed for the Ashbridges Bay area has the least impact on the surrounding area.

Like their neighbours to the east, constituents in Ward 30 are also concerned about the accessibility of public transit and calling on the City and the province to improve service into and out of their community.

Another important issue in Toronto-Danforth, is safety for all road users. Recently several local intersections have been improved including Pape-Riverdale, Jones-Dundas, and Marjorie-Dundas. The next one slated for improvement is Gerrard-Fairford, while a safety audit is currently being done along Broadview Avenue from Danforth Avenue to Gerrard Street East.

Some of the wards more ongoing local issues, which are always included in discussions during election time, include the area’s struggling film industry, parking, the redevelopment of the Bridgepoint Health site, graffiti, and the environment.
