Ward 31 (Beaches-East York)

View Ward 31 (Beaches-East York) in a larger map

This ward represents the eastern half of East York. Bound by Coxwell Avenue, Victoria Park Avenue and Danforth Avenue, and extending north to the Don River and Sunrise Avenue on the north.

For the past two terms, it’s been represented by New Democrat Janet Davis, a member of Mayor David Miller’s executive committee and a vocal advocate for children’s services and social justice on council.

The ward itself is a mix of income and needs, with neighbourhoods of post-war bungalows sitting alongside large mixed-income rental housing complexes.

In 2006, Davis won her seat by a margin of nearly 5,000 votes. In early 2010, Davis is already facing several challengers to her incumbency.
