Ward 32 (Beaches-East-York) is home to one of Toronto’s most desirable neighbourhoods – the Beach.

With that desirability comes a number of local struggles including the challenge of maintaining the area’s unique character while striving for appropriate new development.

This is especially difficult for long-time local residents who are faced with rising property taxes when provincial market value assessments determine their home’s worth is exponentially more than they expected.

Another local issue of interest is infrastructure, notability the inadequacy of local sewer systems. An ongoing concern, the City is currently in the midst of upgrading the system. In the meantime, interim solutions are being explored to address flooding and sewage back ups throughout Beaches-East York.

Being so close to the downtown core, many Ward 32 residents rely on public transit and are counting on the city and the province to improve streetcar service in and out of their community.
