1. What key issues define your campaign platform?
- Increase service levels in ALL City departments. Every councillor has to be accountable to his/her constituents. I promise to attend to all inquiries and issues raised by my constituents by personally answering all of their phone calls and e-mails.
- Create jobs in Ward 2 and get another ‘Woodbine Live’.
- Reduce taxes (beyond land transfer and car registration taxes).
- Have high schools become ‘drop-in centres’ for youth at nights and weekends.
- Increase police presence in Ward 2 neighbourhoods where necessary.
2. Why are you the best candidate for this position?
I will bring my 25 years of business experience to the job by creating more jobs, increase service levels for all citizens, reduce waste and promote accountability in Ward 2. I will bring the basic business principle of listening to our customers to improve the quality of life in Ward 2. By attending to my constituents’ needs, I will make sure that their concerns and desires are heard at City Hall. I will work as many hours as required to fulfill my promise of looking after their interest.
3. What specifically do you plan to do for your ward, if elected?
Maintain accountability and integrity. I believe in transparency in dealings with all interest groups, because by working together in a sense of trust and confidence, we could bring prosperity to the citizens of Ward 2. I will work with businesses and residents to reduce waste, cut taxes, and improve the service levels provided by the City. I will accomplish these by talking and listening to my constituents through town hall meetings and personal contacts.
