1. What key issues define your campaign platform?
I am committed to, and have always delivered innovation, change and accountability.
* To fight for needed Fiscal Discipline at City Hall by: controlling spending, cutting waste, limiting tax grabs, roll back unnecessary spending of the Miller regime, reduce Councillor office budgets, tighten purchasing rules, sell vacant city real estate to create value for taxpayers. Support additional contracting out of services.
* Lead the new administration in making smart investments that will improve Public Transit and invest in Infrastructure to reduce the backlog of repairs needed. I support the Eglinton underground LRT and expanding transit lines that are affordable and appropriate.
* Ensure Excellence in Service to Taxpayers by building on the success of having 24-7 access to City Hall’s 3-1-1 customer service. Improving productivity & efficiency at City Hall will equal better value for tax dollars spent.

2. Why are you the best candidate for this position?
I have been working hard for Ward 5 for the last ten years. I have a record of getting things done in Etobicoke and build consensus while working with residents and Councillors alike. I was an outspoken critic of the current Mayor and joined the Responsible Government Group to push for change, lower taxes and savings. I have the knowledge and experience to accelerate needed change at City Hall. I focus on finding solutions that work. My background in architecture & urban design will help with the ongoing development & planning issues we face. My strong voice on Council led the 3-1-1 Customer Service initiative, and the elimination of costly performance pay for non-Union staff (saving $5 million annually). I lead by example. I have voted against councillors’ pay increases. I am consistently in the bottom quarter of all councillors’ office spending. We can’t keep burdening the taxpayers.

3. What specifically do you plan to do for your ward, if elected?
I will continue to listen to and respect taxpayers, show value for their taxes paid, and implement solutions that work. The renewal of our playgrounds, recreational facilities, parks and public spaces are a priority. I will drive the redevelopment of City-owned lands in the Etobicoke City Centre to bring new jobs, economic vitality and community facilities (such as the YMCA & a grocery store). I will work to establish a Queensway BIA. I will work with residents on addressing neighbourhood and traffic safety. I will continue working on Ontario Municipal Board reform to strengthen local decision making on planning issues.

4. Please provide details on your personal bio.
* Lifelong Etobian, 45 years old, Sunnylea resident with my wife and daughter.
* Attended Islington J.M. School and Etobicoke Collegiate.
* Studied at University of Toronto’s Faculty of Architecture, graduating in 1989 with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree.
* Established my own consulting firm working on various residential and commercial projects.
* First elected in 1994 as Councillor in the former City of Etobicoke. Elected to Toronto City Council in 2000.
* City Committees – Chair e-City, West District Study Group, Vice-Chair Planning and Growth, TTC Commissioner, Etobicoke York Community Council, TRCA Board, AGO Board, Heritage Etobicoke Foundation, and Ward 5 BIA Boards.
* Fluent in English and Polish, speak conversational French and German.

5. Who do you plan to support for mayor?
I was an active member of John Tory’s Campaign Team until August of this year. I am still reviewing the detailed platforms of each candidate to determine who can deliver CHANGE that will work.
