1. What key issues define your campaign platform?
First and foremost the “soaring accumulated debt” and the “sky-rocking debt servicing costs” which will only be abated with the election of not merely a right-wing Mayor as I am convinced Mayor Ford will demonstrate; however, only with the support of like-minded allied City Councillors that have an archived track record for advocating a cessation of countless new fees and property tax hikes transcending the Statistics Canada inflation rate at an unsustainable pace as the articles at my campaign website reaffirm. Yes, substance and not rhetoric! A quick review of my vision at my website at www.davidcsearle4ward6.com will enlighten the good folks of Etobicoke-Lakeshore as to “who they can count on” to thwart the pillaging of their pocketbooks by City Hall. Secondly, as a Baby-Boomer I will stand for revoking vehicle permit renewals that are disproportionately higher than neighbouring municipalities and for ending the left’s attack on our cherished automobiles.
2. Why are you the best candidate for this position?
I would become irate and short on patience at even a “hint of budgetary excesses” at City Hall, where I believe my attendance would be unparalleled, would be mobilizing the press, the constituents, and fellow Councillors to thwart any additional mortgaging of taxpayer’s “future standard of living” that would adversely impact our “Tax-Freedom Day” in Toronto. I was born in the “Mega-City of Toronto” unlike some other candidates in our Ward, but don’t hold it against me, and am not “just visiting” as Pastor Wendell appears to be. I have lived Downtown and now here in Etobicoke-Lakeshore for over a decade. Daily, I drive from the east to the west side of our Ward 6 with Toronto’s best view of the City skyline “of all 44 Wards”, and upon being elected will meet with the B.I.A.’s, entrepreneurs, and residents for feedback on concerns and ideas.
3. What specifically do you plan to do for your ward if elected?
One of my priorities would be the noisy 501 Streetcar service from “Long Branch” to “the Humber” which often grinds to a halt with up to a dozen streetcars awaiting clearance after accidents, when the rails get jammed east of Humber, when the overhead line breaks off, or when there’s a winter storm power-outage. I would embark on a review of cost efficiencies to jettison the streetcars and unsightly accompanying tracks, overhead wires, and maintenance, exploring the viability of double-compartment Mississauga like 60 foot buses that bring thousands from the “Land of Mayor Hazel” to the Bloor Subway daily.
4. Please provide details on your personal bio.
I have been a decade-long petroleum business entrepreneur who survived Ignatieff Liberal colleague Bob Rae’s N.D.P toll on “innovation, initiative, and prosperity” that doubled Ontario’s debt, a Volunteer Cancer Society Driver, a 2003 P.C. Party of Canada Delegate for Etobicoke-Lakeshore, a Member of the Empire Club of Canada, a new car salesman of the year, a supporter of euthanasia, a strong defence, of Mike Harris, Ralph Klien, Joe Clark, and steadfast opponent of “out-of-control” city employee union compensation that leaves the struggling private sector looking on in awe. The public sector “must” be part of the solution!
5. Who do plan to support for mayor?
The bumbling, unwaivering, plain-talking Rob Ford of course.
