Ward 12 (York South-Weston)

Ward 12 is tucked between two railroads on its eastern and western borders and flows south from the 401 to its boundary a few blocks south of Eglinton Avenue West.

Constituents in this community are faced with changes in transportation systems as well as educational issues resulting from a declining student population.

Plans are in the works that would see a new light rail transit system installed along Eglinton Avenue West that could boost accessibility in the long term, but might have a negative impact on local business during construction.

Groups like the Eglinton Hill Business Improvement Area will need to be courted by potential candidates while families in the ward may be more concerned about the future of education in the area.

With schools closures being considered in the near future due to declining enrolment, strategies to keep youth engaged in education and extracurricular activities in the community will play a role in this election.
