What key issues define your campaign platform?
My campaign is founded upon the experience I’ve garnered, the leadership I’ve demonstrated and the community projects I have completed. I have a plan to protect our transit system and modernize our subway stations. Together with business improvement associations, I will work to make our strip malls and avenues true neighbourhood destinations. I will continue to revitalize our parks and facilities to provide additional recreation and green space. I will continue to be a force to reckon with at council for fiscal restraint coupled with real investments to lay the foundations for the future of this city. Like the past four years, I will maintain and expand my relationship with my constituents.  With my door-to-door interaction, wide-spread community consultations and on-going production of community events, I will encourage and empower the residents of this ward to join me in making this the best place in Scarborough to live.

Why are you the best candidate for this position?
I am already the councillor my opponents promise to be. In four years, I have found millions of dollars of lost interest in the budget and eliminated over $400,000 in free baseball tickets for councillors. I lowered office budgets by 5 per cent and took personal, on the record, pay cuts, and have passed policies to pursue $30 million owed by private golf courses.
In Ward 35 I have been a builder. I helped establish two new Business Improvement Associations and tripled the number of resident associations. I worked hard to ensure the Victoria Park Station rebuild, with Kennedy Subway Station starting in 2011. I have refurbished almost every park, built splash pads, soccer fields and community gardens. I doubled the size of the city owned and operated Warden Hilltop Community Centre.

What specifically do you plan to do for your ward, if elected?
I will continue to provide the consistent and efficient service residents have come to expect.
I will continue the work to modernize Kennedy and Warden Subway stations.
I will connect residents with our new state-of-the-art community centre to help Ward 35 become the fittest neighbourhood in the city.
I will create and work with business improvement associations to enhance and create opportunities that will clean up our strip malls and make them neighbourhood destinations.
I will expand our green space by creating increased parkland for everyone’s enjoyment.
Finally, I will work with the new administration at City Hall to ensure tax dollars are invested… not just spent.
