Ward 39 (Scarborough-Agincourt)

This ward in Scarborough’s northwest corner contains the Steeles-L’Amoureaux priority neighbourhood, parts of the Agincourt suburb the city says are short now of services and social supports to help youth, seniors and the poor.

Key issues in this municipal election include illegal rooming houses, particularly on residential streets near Steeles Avenue.

Though these homes fill a demand for inexpensive housing, they operate to the great consternation of nearby homeowners. A city hall proposal may make licensed rooming houses possible by next year on arterial roads in Scarborough.

Also, a proposed redevelopment plan adding condominium towers to the Bridlewood Mall area is also of concern to many Ward 39 residents.
