What key issues define your campaign platform?
Responsible and balance spending. There are so many tugs and pulls for spending. There needs to be a balance but we cannot continue to raise and create new taxes to provide for more spending. Residents are saying that the basics are not being provided for. Service levels are not what they use to be and we are paying more for less.
Why are you the best candidate for this position?
As the only qualified accountant on council I have been excluded by mayor Miller to be part of the Budget Committee. The City needs experience in dealing with a large and massive budget and a person who knows were to look. In addition, I live in the community that I represent and myself and my family have given back as volunteers in numerous activities.
I did not pocket any raise during the last term of office giving my increase to local charities and groups.
What specifically do you plan to do for your ward, if elected?
I wish to continue to make L’Amoreaux Park a destination point. In addition to sports facilities I want to create a true Arborium that was promised in 1985 but never delivered. I want to help the community establish a dog park.
Personal bio:
I am a 27 year resident in the Silver Springs area of the ward. I hold a C.A. , B.Comm., MTS., B.Ed., OCT designations. I have been involved in many volunteer activities in the Ward. I served as the Catholic School Board Trustee for Ward 7 comprising North York and Scarborough Wards. In 2003, I was elected Chair of the Board. I worked at Shoppers Drug Mart for 20 years having been a Controller. In 1996 I was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and won a significant ruling against the Ministry of Health which lead to the proper technology being brought to Toronto Western Hospital .
Who do you plan to support for mayor?
Rob Ford
